365 days project 2: Day 28. Wait for it

Today was the perfect example to learn that rushing doesn't solve things faster.
We forget to read the instructions. Many times we just jump into doing something without thinking that we might not know how to. And in the end we reach the same conclusion: 'Man, I should have read the instructions!'
Did this happen to you before? Fixing something, making a project, learning for an exam, doing something new that you want to get done as soon as possible. Rush, rush, rush! Sigh... Will we ever learn how to stop?

Day 306. Rush, rush, rush

I always tell myself I hate rushing. And even so, I don't know why but I keep doing it. Rush in to get dressed, catch the bus, get somewhere. Every.single.time. Today I ran after two buses. It was awful and I told myself I should stop doing it. What's the worst that could happen? Take the next bus?
Why are we rushing in life? Why do we want things asap? Why can't we just be relaxed about everything and know that in the end we will get where we want anyhow? It would spare us of so much energy loss.
In my case I'm thinking that I want to get home sooner or that someone might be waiting for me and they might get cranky if I don't make it on time, but I just have to accept that I will eventually get home anyway and if I happen to be late, true friends understand that missing a bus isn't the end of the world:)
So let's cut the rushing. It's not good for us. Sooner or later we need to start prioritizing and stop thinking that we HAVE to do something asap and replace that with "we'd like to do it, but if it doesn't happen, it's still ok." And just chillax. God, how much I want that. So I'm going to start doing it in 3... 2... 1...

Day 290. The sour piece of cake

Today I remembered how tricky some things can be. It's that moment when you think: "Ah, this is gonna be a piece of cake" and that's exactly when you're mistaken. Be it an exam, homework, a house chore or improvising a mosquito net.
It took us the whole day. A lot of sweat and frustration. Doing and undoing what we did. But in the end I learned my lesson: "Be patient and take things one by one. Don't rush or plan ahead. Life is yet to happen so just focus on the here and now."

Day 246. The rush

Today I had the time of my life. Actually, I thought I was being stood up and I paid for a fake workshop.
Let me tell you how all this happened. The day started up with a beautiful morning bathed in sun. I had a yummy breakfast while carelessly walking in a foreign city where I only knew one street and Kaufland. So I had to follow some directions to get to the workshop. Of course I got lost at some point. I managed to get there in the end (asking people always helps, even though they sometimes give you weird directions that make you even more confused) and I met this lady who was heading to a course in the same building. I thought we were both going to the same workshop. Until I found myself in the middle of a lot of Hungarian speakers in a workshop/course that had already started. Before the scheduled hour. Hmmmm, something was fishy. I found out my workshop was going to be downstairs. As I arrived there, I looked around and I was amazed to find out.......... nobody was there: not the organizer, nor another person from a foreign city like me... nobody! After waiting for a while I started calling the teacher who was supposedly holding the workshop. She didn't answer on either phone. I waited some more, but I only got more anxious. From then on my mind worked on some movie like interpretations where people were each told a different meeting point and all this was a biiiiig scheme. Well guess what. The thing was that it wasn't starting at 9 like I was told, but an hour later.
Yeah, that changes everything. Oh well. I had the time of my life. And I got amused about the negative brain we all have. It likes to make negative interpretations so that it can solve problems. So my brain got me in a huge rush today. I'd rather not repeat the experience:)

P.S. The workshop was awesome today! Can't wait for tomorrow's sequel!

Day 225. Looking forward

Looking forward to

Our life is a series of "looking forward to" moments. We always find something new to look forward to so we're in a continuous rush. But there are some days when time seems to stop and then you stop as well. That's when you realize almost half an year has passed and you remember the first of January like it was yesterday.
Time flies indeed. And its only marks are the memories. The memories of having lived a perfect spring day with fresh green grass, mellow sun rays, blooming trees and their scent embracing you.
Many times we make the mistake of looking forward to something BIG, life changing and just as many times we can be disappointed because things seem to have their own trajectory and they don't always happen when we want them to. So why not look forward to small things that are more reachable? Why not immortalize those moments and relieve them in some years when looking at the photos? I don't know about you, but I'd want to remember my everyday reasons to smile not just the celebrations and birthdays and Christmases.
So let's rearrange our purposes and our "looking forward to" moments. At the end of it we might be thankful for having done this rather sooner than later:)

Day 96. Life lessons

bus leaving the bus station Romania 2012

Today I remembered a life lesson my dad taught me: "Never run after something or someone who's not waiting for you." ... basically buses and men.
I was seconds away from the bus I had to take and I let it go remembering what my dad said. "Another one will come", I told myself and a minute later it did:) So, I learned I have to take my time and enjoy the ride instead of rushing to get somewhere only to get bored later on.

Day 85. Rush

golden butterfly

There are times when we all rush: to buy the things we need, to get to work or to school, to eat, to think, to take decisions. We rush and then we fail. We fail to see the beautiful little things around us, to find the right choice, the one that will definitely make us happier and healthier.
Today I was in the mall with my family. As always, my dad rushed to buy the things he needed and then he was planning to go straight home. I never liked that. I want to look around and wonder, especially NOW, before Christmas:) If I were rushing all the time, when would I have the time to see what's new, to observe the good discounts and so on?
So, I prefer to take my time and enjoy a peaceful life. I'm sure we can wake up earlier in order not to rush to work/school and we can also plan to pay more attention to the world around us. You'd be surprised to see how many little things show up when you're taking your time:)
