Day 333. Believe

Today was one of those really happy days for me:) Because I got the exam result and it was astronomical. Wow! I knew the music teacher (our exam supervisor) did an awesome job psychologically preparing us for the exam, that I loved the subjects (they were exactly what I wished for) and that I had an interesting idea for one of the subjects and all that made me very proud and confident while writing the exam, but giving the last year's experience when I thought I did good and seemingly I didn't, I didn't know what to expect this year. So in the end, looks like I overestimated the difficulty of the exam and I was wrong to stop believing in myself when I got the last year's result.
So what I learned today is that whenever you want to do something and you want it bad, believe in yourself. Believe you can and stretch all your resources to get where you want and remember that no matter how difficult the target might look like, it's always achievable if you believe in yourself. Trust that you can reach all your goals no matter how utopian they might look like. Know that the feeling of confidence will boost everything else in the right direction. Sure, there's competition and the resources might be scarce but know that you can. You can achieve anything you set for yourself, be it an awesome job, an amazing boyfriend, vacation destinations or anything else:)
Also, what I learned is that whenever you are confident you can move the mountains and nobody can take that feeling from you:) So hold on tight to it! You Will move the mountains if you believe!:)

Day 314. Utopia

We all have those unreachable dreams. The utopias that just seem too far away for our present condition. But you know what? Believe in them and start acting accordingly! You never know when the time is right and poof! they come true:)
So dare to dream out loud! Take a leap of faith and start working. Big dreams involve baby steps and hard work but they are way better than no dreams at all:) And the result is always amazing!
Today one of my biggest dreams came true:) I've carried it with me my whole life and it's been both a burden and a strong desire. And after all this, I can tell: if my utopia got real, yours can too:) Just remember that...

Day 207. Magic is real!

A magician and kindergarten kids

Today I was a mesmerized child myself:) I've seen a magician perform tricks for the first time in my life and boy what an experience that was!:)
I can certainly say that reality is more mind blowing than TV Shows! Even though there were just some classic tricks when I was there I felt time stopped and it was just me and the magician. Me staring in awe and him continuing to amaze me.
The thing is you find no explanation to how different sized objects just appear under glasses or boxes. And that's exactly the beauty of it. The beauty of believing in magic, believing that there's more than science out there... And when you lose all that you stop being a child.

But why would I ever want to grow up? :)

Day 122. I choose you

little ball of fur dog

Today while watching Minority Report someone said something that made me ponder: "You don't choose the things to believe in. They choose you." I think it sounds mighty interesting.
Since we're born we have many years ahead of us to walk in this beautiful life which looks just like a crowded and colorful market. We wander around, look to the left and to the right, walk some more and then, whenever we see something we like, we stop and gaze and we want to own that thing. Then we buy it and we use it for a while but after some time we get bored of it and never use it again and when we least expect, that very market offers something we'll use for the whole life, something that calls us, something that chooses us.
You know how much I love dogs. No matter if I will ever own one or not, I'll always smile whenever I see a little ball of fur looking at me with his cute puppy eyes. I know there are so many animals out there, but you could say I'm a magnet for dogs. They look my way and approach me right away. We have a strong connection, a good vibe.  Regarding the things to "believe" in, well there you have it: I believe in dogs' way of being friendly, joyful, faithful and sooo lovable and maybe that's exactly what drew me to them. So in the end I guess we chose each other:) And what a beautiful feeling it is:)

Day 115. I choose to believe

I meant to write something about the state of complete peace I get whenever I step into a church but during the day I was approached in an unthoughtful manner about my beliefs (and "The nativity story" movie) so I'm writing about my beliefs instead.
In this rushing world where the most important thing is having money and enjoying yourself, few are those who still seek God, no matter His appearance. I know we can find plenty of reasons not to believe, be it because we can't see Him, because the facts the Bible describes happened too long ago and they were written by simple people who could have lied or because the priests have hidden some of what was written in order to control us and that some of them are to be ashamed of instead of being a role model for the society they work for. Honestly, I don't care if some of the history written in the Bible is distorted or lacks information. It's enough for me. I choose to believe because it makes me a better person. It makes me feel at peace with myself and solve problems easier. It makes me be confident and give sense to everything that happens to me. I don't have to see God in person to believe He exists. I can feel Him. I choose to believe in Him because of His son and the role model He is for me.
I know there are sooo many debatable things regarding christianity but I choose to have my own religion, my own path and believe. I don't go to church every Sunday, I'm not the best human being but I strive. I want to be better. I want to help the others. And today, the priest said that striving helps. So I choose to believe and I want to be accepted for who I am. I want to be shown thoughtfulness instead of being pointed and laughed at. I'm a human being and I do have feelings.

Day 77. Pride and prejudice

Ballerina Christmas decoration

People are different and they each have their own opinions and their own tastes. We know that already. It's the weird strong beliefs that some people have that shocked me today.
I announced the kids the dance class was about to start when a little girl of about 4 years old became very upset and told me she didn't want to dance because her mom thinks "dance is such a stupid thing to do" and "our Lord doesn't like us to dance".
Can you imagine how many times that mother had to repeat those two sentences to that little girl so that she would strongly believe in it and behave accordingly? I know how christians are. I've been there, I've done that. And I still consider myself a christian, just not a fanatic one anymore. But doing this to a child is, in my opinion, destructive. It's one thing if YOU, the adult, believe something because of your experience and the influence some people had on you and it's another thing to force your little one to believe in the same things as you do, to set boundaries so tight that he couldn't be free anymore.
I bet that little girl has more rules than rights and I'm honestly sorry for that. Yes, you might say: "Why does it matter if she's happy like that? Why does it matter if her parents love her and give her everything she needs to grow up and be on her own?" You know, this beautiful life God gave us each is not only about the basic needs. It's also about discovering the outer world and setting your own particular rules to guide your life around.
I'm amazed some people can be like that when they say they believe in a loving God. Isn't it written in the same Bible we all believe in that “I have the right to do anything, but not everything is beneficial. I have the right to do anything but I will not be mastered by anything?" (1 Corinthians 6:12) It's the purpose you set that makes it a sin. How can a little child sin while dancing? How can dance therapy be a sin or even ballet? And how can someone get to be a dancer without jumping and dancing around the room since he was so little he could barely walk? There are many people in the world who would tell you that dancing saved their life when everything else was ruined.

But in the end, it all comes down to pride and prejudice and it's a pitty. We should think twice before acting and even three times before telling our child to stop dancing because it's a stupid thing to do. He can't make his own decisions yet so why not let him explore and know the world first and only HELP him make good decisions?

Day 24. Think positive!

beautiful flowers

There are some people around us who tell us life is tough. Very tough. But I am sure there are also some people on this planet, like me, who want to believe everything is going to be ok. I just know it. No matter what happens along the way, no matter how many problems we will face, we will always find the suitable solutions to solve those problems and we CAN be happy even while finding those solutions. So, let's think positive!:)
