365 days project 2. Day 31. When the old becomes new

Today I was looking for some shoes all around town. I took my time to walk from one shop to another and I looked around at the old buildings, the peaceful pedestrian streets and the beauty of Cluj surrounding me everywhere.
I always saw my city as the coziest home I could have. It had everything I needed. My school, my university, my family and friends, places to go out and a parks, art and culture. But after a while you get so used to a place you don't see its attractions the same way a traveller sees them.
Today I looked at Cluj from a different perspective. After having travelled a bit in the past years I realized that my city is not as random as I thought after living here for my whole life. I began to understand why everybody who came to Cluj fell in love with the city. It's not huge, it doesn't have as many attractions as Sibiu or Sighisoara, but it has its own unique charm that you will discover if you walk around the city at your own pace, watching the people passing by, feeling their mood and the whole vibe of the town. Cluj really is wonderful! It has that "je ne sais quoi" that makes you want to stay more, explore more, fall in love more. It creates stories that deserve to told to kids and grandkids. It's unique, cozy... the perfect place to call home (aside from Venice ;) )!

365 project 2: Day 4. To love or not to love

Is it better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all?

I would choose the first one. As much as it hurts. It was sad to hear today someone telling me that they have never loved anyone, have never been in love, nor are they looking to fall in love at all. I happen to know this person fairly well and I can tell, as a friend and as a psychologist, that something is missing in their life. And even if they don't want to acknowledge the need of love, they are looking for it in every person they meet. So then... why fear being hurt? We have ONE life, ONE chance to live it fully, fall in love... repeatedly until we find the ONE... the one who's going to fit in perfectly in our puzzle, the one who's going to make us smile every time we see their face because we love them immensely, so much that words can not explain.
Why lose this thrilling feeling by denying ourrselves the miracle of love?

Day 349. 28 years later

pancake cake

Today it's 28 years since my parents got married. That sounds like a lot, huh? A lifetime spent together. Ups and downs, laughs and tears, a lot of hard work raising me and my brother.
I know that many times we're not on the same page regarding life issues and I know it's difficult for them to see beyond the bare necessities like having a good job, getting married and having a beautiful family but in the end I admire them. Because they're still together, still loving and respecting each other. They raised us beautifully even if I thought they're over protective. I guess they're just parents. And they want the best for their kids.
I wish I'd get my 28th wedding anniversary too. And be happy and in love just like them:)

Happy anniversary, dear mom and dad!

Day 346. That special feeling

From time to time you get that special feeling of being in love with the world. It's that unexplainable thing that makes you be high on happiness, that feeling of "I wouldn't change anything about how my life looks right now." You forget about anything that needs to be solved, anything that's not perfect and you just wear that dumb smile on your face and you feel like you'd hug everybody.
That feeling usually comes on a perfect summer evening. You just lay down in the sunset light, close your eyes and realize you finished solving the puzzle, that every piece is now put in its right place and you're proud to have figured things out. You open your eyes and you're still smiling. Because you're looking forward to solving the next puzzle life has prepared for you. And because you know that if you were able to finish all the ones you were given until now, you're trained enough to finish the ones to come too. And that gives you strength and peace. The peace of knowing you're in control. What better feeling do you need?:)

Day 73. Lovestruck

Vintage clock with flowers

I looked up the title in the urban dictionary. It fits perfectly for how I felt today. Not related to a person, though. It's related to the amazing, beautiful clock in the picture above. I met "him" in a hypermarket here in my town and I fell in love with it. I knew I had to get it. The price was extremely convenient as well but then... I took a minute and I started thinking: "Where would I put it? It doesn't fit with the rest of my room. It doesn't necessarely fit in my office at the kindergarten. I don't have my own place yet... It would definitely fit in a romantic kitchen with lots of plants. Nevertheless, I don't own that kitchen yet." So I eventually decided I had to break up with the idea of purchasing the clock. I had regrets and I've been thinking about it ever since I left the store... I still really want to have it. I can't explain why. I just know I do... and one day I will have it.
This happens to us all the time. Walking around window shopping and suddenly laying our eyes on something extraordinary. That's when we know we're lovestruck. And we can't rest until we buy that amazing thing. Do we really need it right then? Of course we don't. But something inside us is yelling: "That's ME, that's exactly what I would pick if I looked for that. I want it! I want it now!" And maybe there should't be any second thoughts because it's so rear the chance when you find something as extraordinary as that. Be it shoes, accesories, clothes, books, decorations, furniture or many other things.
If you take the decision to follow your brain instead of your heart, just like when you fall for a person, your heart won't rest until you get what you want. So, forget the brain and follow your heart. You probably won't find that particular thing when you'll be looking for it and having the chance of finding it all of a sudden, when you least expect... that gotta be destiny:)
