Day 279. Great expectations

It was one of those mornings when you wake up more tired than you went to sleep. I wanted to just curl in my bed all day, sleep and watch something, read my book or sing. But instead I had to go to work.
At some point today I realized that every day of our life is based on expectations. Not the "looking forward to" feeling. No. We expect something to happen. We plan it that way. And if it doesn't turn out the way we want it, we become frustrated thinking that they are all the ones to be blamed when, instead, our thoughts are the wrong variable in the equation. I realized that if I just stepped back and let myself disengage from the expectations that aren't achieved or better yet, from any kind of expectations and I just take life as it comes minute by minute, everything seems brighter around me. I actually tried it and not only that I wasn't sad anymore, I could actually focus on something else. Something much more important. And in the end this is what saves us. Being able to shift our attention from things that are uncertain to things we know for sure.
Another big issue comes to surface when we expect something to happen but an exterior factor turns everything down. What do we do then? Do we become frustrated again or do we use all our resources to change our plans? It's up to us. Our whole life is up to us. It's exactly like they say it: Life isn't complicated. We complicate it giving it all sorts of wrong interpretations and over analyzing it. So let's be "expectless" and take it as it comes. Minute by minute:)

Day 144. Freeze

stop time

I wish time would freeze for me in the morning. I'd like to be able to turn it off as you do with a timer and linger under the cozy blanket and when I'm bored of the sheets of my bed and the movies or TV shows that i can watch, then and only then unfreeze time and go back to doing what I have to do that day.
Life moves on whether we're ready for it or not and we have to roll with it. Every day I promise myself I would go to sleep one or two hours earlier but I never do it. I barely have any free time after work anyway so going to sleep earlier would only shorten that awesome time of the day... And then it gets harder and harder to wake up in the morning. I wish I drank coffee. Maybe that way I wouldn't go through all this unpleasant situation. But I don't, so I have to keep my thoughts together and find something to motivate myself in order to move. I wish time would freeze for me.

Day 100. How fragile we are

how fragile we are

I stayed in bed all day. Thank God for the people who invented medicine and pills. I feel way better than I did this morning. Yet, today I had plenty of time to meditate at our condition. Our fragile condition.
I'm not sure we value health as much as we should. I think health is like a friendship. It takes a lot of time to preserve it and we lose it so easily. That's why we should be more thankful for being healthy and start working with pleasure because we can. There are so many who can't.

Day 41. Everything seems brighter...

Autumn leaves on bench

... when you're fit as a fiddle again after some days of taking pills and staying in bed!:) That's how I felt today after getting off the bus:) I have to be honest, the sun was promising to shine so we got on the same page quickly, I guess:) Nevertheless, even the little details that I didn't pay attention to before were now beautiful and I felt so lucky to be able to be back on track so shortly:) Yaaay, a new day of working with the kids:D (Oh, btw, a girl came to me today and hugged me and told me she loved me. See? THAT'S why I want to work with them every single day!:) )
So my day was awesome and I could feel it was going to be like that since I opened my book on the bus and I had a big hunger for reading again. Now that was a good sign! And then the desire to take photos, dance and eat followed quickly:)

   Again, when there's a will there's a way:)

Day 40. Bed sweet bed

Pillows in bed

Tuesday, second day of flu hell. Things just got serious. It was about time I started using a more serious pill because I really wanted to go back to work the other day (I know how silly that sounds).
It was all about bed, bed and some more bed for me on Tuesday. I wasn't used to having fever anymore. I didn't have a fever since childhood, but yet, it was never to late to meet her again. And I was happy. Because that meant my body was fighting:)
At the end of the day I was proud to have succeeded going to work and having had a beautiful class with some kids in my ex highschool.

TIP of the day: when there's a will, there's a way!
