The doors

Dear diary,

I've been thinking about a new concept that came to my mind for a while now. I find it interesting how the important people in our life unlock different doors inside us. It's like we're all wonderful castles that carry their stories of the past with them... some happy, some sad, but all as important to the beauty and the mystery of the castle.
As castles, we all gather bits and pieces of information that has been given to us and we keep it in different rooms along the time. And when the right person approaches the castle, it enters it and it finds a new key that leads to a new room. A room with wonders and unexpected beauty. With secret books they never knew existed but which apparently were always there.
New people open new rooms of the beautiful castle and in the end the whole building will be open to visit for it has reached the age of wisdom when it can give forward what it has received over so many years.
How wonderful can it be to know that at an unexpected moment, an unexpected visitor will open up a new room in your beautiful castle, a room that will be a wonder for both the visitor and for the castle itself!:)

In wonder,
D.

Dreamers

   Dear diary,

Will we ever learn? Or will we keep making the same mistakes over and over again?
Will we ever choose the important over the urgent? The need over the want? Tomorrow over now? Will we choose right?
I'm back to square one because I chose now over tomorrow (again). And things might get out of control. But I'm telling myself they don't have to go exactly how I planned them. That I can always change, twist and bend to make it okay in the end and that my friends and family can help when everything else fails. Yep. I should remember that. I donno why they keep teaching us to succeed by ourselves. We're never alone, like they say. Not when we're born, nor when we die.
In the end, I guess we're dreamers who enjoy breaking the rules. Ones who know tomorrow might never come. Isn't life short anyhow? So why not take advantage of it while we still can? Why not make mistakes and challenge ourselves to fix them afterwards?:) It can be a useful process.

With love,

The one who thinks she has everything under control
and is always mistaken

P.S. I decided to stop making a schedule about when to write. I'll try to make it once a week, but nothing's final. I want my memories to be powerful, not just any random thing that happens. So, I guess you understand.

Day 312. The ultimate gift

Love

There are a loooot of movies out there: the bad ones you regret having watched, the ones perfect for a boring Sunday afternoon, those that are half bad and half good and you don't know if you like them or not, the ones that are pretty good but the subject might be somewhat overused and then... there are the ones that just leave you breathless. The cornerstones. The ones that sweep you off your feet. Those that take you by the hand and by the time you realized what happened you're already living life alongside with the characters, experience intense emotions with them, laugh and cry and learn. Learn a lot of things. Learn that the mere fact of you having been born is important.
"The ultimate gift" is one of the cornerstones. The kind of movie you're glad you're alive to have seen it. The kind that changes your life forever and reminds you how important it is to LIVE life. Enjoy every bit of it. Leave behind all the unnecessary baggage you're dragging with you daily and finally wake up and see what's Important. The kind of movie everybody should see. So if you haven't seen it by now, just go and do it. I promise you won't regret it:)

"Neither love, nor hate thy life; but what thou livest, live well; however long or short may the heavens permit."

Day 263. Which one?

Where to

That awkward moment when you have so many things on your mind you don't know what to start with. The urgent or the important? The one I like or the one I have to? Should I ask around or should I just calm down and listen to the answers within me?
There's soooooo little time! In 30 hours I have to come up with a project from scratch. I have to teach 10th grade kids something awesome about the generation gap.

Day 231. Live and love

Live and love

My experiment is getting on pretty fine. I didn't have harsh times until today because I was very busy and distracted by work. Nevertheless, I decided to stop it when the week ends (except the part referring to drinking 2l of water/day). You know I over analyse everything. So today I started to philosophically get into this issue.
There are people out there who didn't eat something sweet for years. How weird is it to forever forbid yourself to eat a piece of chocolate, pudding or mom's cake once in a while? Why would I do that when I love chocolate? I want to enjoy life not feel misery every time I am at the sweets department in a supermarket (like it happened today). I know that after a while the diet gets to be a way of living and you might not feel the need of unhealthy things as much as you did before, BUT life is short, so why waste it on trying to set boundaries when I can simply take the middle path, accept my needs and rather control them than suppress them?
So I choose to live. Live and enjoy. Call me a hedonist, but I do love chocolate. And I didn't know how much I actually did until this week happened. You know, when you lack something you realize how important it is to you.
No. Ending the experiment so soon doesn't mean I'm back at square one. This week I learned that I can do more than I thought I could, that I can manage my cravings either by distracting my attention or by replacing unhealthy snacks with healthy ones, that apples can be a good friend and that sweets aren't vital but they make me happy. And feeling happiness is more important to me than feeling frustration.

5 days down, 2 days left:) Even if I've already taken a decision, I'm keeping my promise.

Day 4. Choices

choices in life

Every day we have to make choices. Since we wake up till we go to bed in the night, our life is controlled by our very own decisions. Now or later? Short or long? Healthy or not-so-healthy-but-yummy?:)
I had to make a choice today. Nothing big, but yet important for me. After a hard struggle and asking people around I got to the best solution. I realized I can use both of my options. At times this is the best decision since every choice has its consequences and we have to be careful about that. I wanted to be happy and make someone happy as well so now we're all happy. I guess I was pretty lucky:)
