365 days project 2. Day 52. Happiness is just a book away

I always loved reading. When I was a little girl I would read all the fairytales I would find in our library and my grandparents' library, any book, no matter how old and wrinkled, if it had illustrations or not (though I loved to look at the pictures). I loved being my favorite characters' fellow and go through a multitude of adventures together, but what I loved the most about fairytales were the happy endings. I always enjoyed that part because no matter what happened everything was ok in the end and the good prevailed.
Books have always been my friends, my comfort, my heaven. They have taught me lessons of true, deep, amazing friendships, eternal love and wisdom conquered through a series of surpassed challenges. Not all the books have a happy end just like not all life stories do but for me books themselves are my happy ending... of a day. No matter how stressful or hard the day was, books always make me smile and bring back that inner peace.
See? Hapiness is just a book away... at least in my case :)

Read me

I'm no compromises, half measures and fake smiles. I give myself completely and I often lose everything. I love deeply but I never hate. And I don't know about you, but I don't like sleeping because there are so many things to enjoy wide awake.
I'm a lazy Sunday morning between warm sheets, a sunny autumn afternoon in the park, a starry night by the countryside.
I'm a loving puppy, a fearful deer, a white dove, a phoenix bird. If money wouldn't exist, you could pay me in hugs and kisses and I'd be just as happy.
I'm the breathtaking view on the peak of the mountain, the deepest ocean and those amazing fluffy clouds on a perfect day.
I'm that book with the terrific scent, the cover that makes you fall in love and the story as old as the world and still true nowadays. The story you love reading, the one that makes you forget who you are and what you're looking for.
I'm a child's giggle, a teenager's dreams and a mother's devotion. I'm everything and nothing altogether. The kind of nothingness you need in your life to be grateful you lived.
I am what you need when you're vulnerable, what you want when you're empty, what you're longing for when you're sad.
I am you and you are me.

Day 362. Guilty pleasures

The mask

We all had our guilty pleasures and we keep having them no matter how much we try to avoid it. We just can't help it. Be it a mainstream song with crappy lyrics and a catchy rhythm, a cheesy movie with good looking actors or a teenagerish book with nothing profound and life changing in its content. We think they're the opposite of everyday us and yet, they somehow make place into our life and we wake up liking them. Even though we'd never go for those if we had to pick.
The interesting part is that if we're asked what we think about them, we strongly deny liking them. Maybe we do it because we want to keep the image we built over time, or maybe because these are rear events that happen here and there and don't really define us as a person. But why do we feel guilty every time we like something like that? Why all that dreadful feeling that only brings in bad energy?
I once saw a video of a man saying that we shouldn't accept such a term as "guilty pleasures" in our life. Because in the end, believe it or not, that's exactly who we are. And those tiny pieces are hidden deep inside us. Sure, we're not proud of them, but acceptance is the beginning of happiness. Nobody says that you have to put a status on Facebook with something like "Hey dudes, I'm a Metalist but I love Twilight." Nobody says you have to tell anybody about it. Maybe you wanna share it with your buddies and make fun of it, or maybe you wanna keep it for yourself but whatever you choose to do, learn to never feel guilty about liking something! Because deep there you know that thingie makes you feel good. Then why associate feeling good with guilt?:) Wouldn't it be easier to just accept it as part of your life and move on amused?:) Life's awesome. Keep it that way!

Day 345. The stillness before the change

Summer's slowly moving on. I can feel it in the air, in the temperatures, in the fact that it's already getting dark sooner. But these last days are the most beautiful ones.
The light is soft and the sun rays feel warm and protective. There's that smell of hay and that stillness that comes right before a big change. These are the perfect days to lounge and take some time off from the everyday rush. The time to read a good book, to make plans for the following months, to put your life in order.
The last summers days are like the last spoon of Nutella. You realize how awesome it is cos it's almost over. But you're always looking forward to the next jar to enjoy the same feeling again:)

"A vacation is like love: anticipated with pleasure, experienced with enthusiasm and remembered with nostalgia."

Day 173. Daughter of the sun

These days I'm reading a book about the King of Summer and the Queen of Winter, a teenage fiction that makes me daydream about the beautiful summer days, the lazy afternoons and the amazing sunsets, the smell in the air after a summer rain and all the benefits of a warm season. That's why every sunny day that leaves winter behind fills me up with happiness and steals away any dark thought.
Today the walk back home was more pleasant than ever. You don't usually notice the birds, but today they they were chirping so happily that I couldn't help myself not smile all the way. The sun made me feel more powerful than ever. That's how I realized. I am a daughter of the sun, a fairy of the King of Summer. Give me the sun and you'll make me the happiest person alive:)

Day 123. Life is like a book

life like a book

Sometimes we feel we've got so much time that we don't know what to do with it and we end up being bored because nothing seems good enough. But most of the times we feel time's running through our fingers and there's nothing we can do to stop it.
Today melancholy caught me gently. It made me think about life passing before my eyes just like a book that's read so fast and then, when you least expect, it's over and everything stops from existing. Why are be born if we're all to die someday? What's our purpose here? As a friend used to say: what's the point of living if after two or three generations nobody calls your name anymore and when the Earth is to be distroyed, everything mankind created will fall into oblivion? So, what's our point here? To grow up, make mistakes, learn from them and reproduce? There must be something more than that. What is it? And why were you born before me? Why was I born here? My life could have been totally different... but do I really want a different life? No. I don't. I'm happy like this. Maybe this is our purpose here: to be happy and the universe conspires to create happy destinies. We're destined to be happy, aren't we? We just have to open our eyes and believe it. Everything else will happen naturally.

Day 68. The best years

sparrow tail

"The best years of our lives are the ones we didn't live yet."

I read this quote today in the amazing book I'm reading on the bus (Call from an angel - Guillaume Musso) and it made me smile:) Many times we find ourselves longing for the past, wishing for it to come back to life thinking that it was definitely better than the present. We all know they say present is a gift and we should cherish it, but I never thought the best is yet to come:)
We've all had good years and those are the ones we daydream about when our rollercoaster is going down, but instead, we should close our eyes, breathe and tell ourselves the best is yet to come:) That's how we know the ride is going up again, that's what keeps us alive:)

Day 48. A few pages a day

Daniel Keyes book

... keep boredom away:) No matter where I go, I always keep a book in my bag. You never know when you'll end up having to wait. And on top of it, I have a pretty long way towards work so guess what I am doing every morning on the bus:)
One one hand there are the people who wonder why I'm doing it when you could simply sit and chill until you reach your destination but on the other side there are the peek-ers:) They are so curious what you're reading that they turn their head to the left or to the right to read the title. I smiled in my mind at the thought of their reaction to the title of my last book: "I'll kill myself some other time" :)) I guess that sounded interesting enough:)
Today, while waiting to get checked by my physician, I read. I knew I was going to have to wait so I smiled at the thought of reading (it helps if you really like the book, otherwise it's a drag). You could see the difference. People around me were getting nervous and were starting to complain about having to wait for so long. Right then I felt blessed. I had a book with me. Something to save me from boredom. Something to make me dream wild and forget about everything else:)

Day 41. Everything seems brighter...

Autumn leaves on bench

... when you're fit as a fiddle again after some days of taking pills and staying in bed!:) That's how I felt today after getting off the bus:) I have to be honest, the sun was promising to shine so we got on the same page quickly, I guess:) Nevertheless, even the little details that I didn't pay attention to before were now beautiful and I felt so lucky to be able to be back on track so shortly:) Yaaay, a new day of working with the kids:D (Oh, btw, a girl came to me today and hugged me and told me she loved me. See? THAT'S why I want to work with them every single day!:) )
So my day was awesome and I could feel it was going to be like that since I opened my book on the bus and I had a big hunger for reading again. Now that was a good sign! And then the desire to take photos, dance and eat followed quickly:)

   Again, when there's a will there's a way:)

Day 21. One of those golden moments

sunset light

I initially chose a different moment of the day to talk about, but it surely doesn't bear the same importance:) This one right here is one of those golden moments when you're sooo relaxed and carefree like you usually feel during a holiday at the seaside when the breeze caresses your hair. Nevertheless, an evening spent in my own vineyard (located at the 4th floor of a block of flats) while reading in the last rays of sun can surely compare to all that seaside retreat:) It felt like a total relaxation. Just like a bubble bath. (Girls know what I'm talking about). Like all issues that need to be solved can be postponed and it's just you and the book in the sunset. Lovely!
           You should try it too:)

P.S. I love my bookmark so I think you should see it too^^ (Full view to read the motto)
