Day 157. Winner's illusion

Shadow of a lie

Last night was going to be another white night and I knew it, but guess what: this time I was able to sleep in a couple of hours. Fever still fought to take me over but I wasn't willing to give up. I discovered a way to take away my back pain and during the day, after tons of tea, fruit, cold compress and staying under the warm blanket... I opened my eyes to a new me. A seemingly healthier me. Not feeling feverish, not complaining about being sick. Everything looked bright. I even considered going to work tomorrow until... She showed me it was still too early to announce my victory. The flu was wearing a black mask that had me thinking I was ok.
Not being able to take a mere shower hurts. Trembling like hell while overdressed hurts as well. So I'm back in bed and I'm taking it from square one. Silly, silly me. She'd never give up so soon because she's stronger this time. I need to be just as strong even if that means giving up on something. Bring it on.

Day 155. Make up your mind, winter!

Whenever a season is ending you can't wait for the next one to begin. This time, spring is MY season, my beloved friend which makes me whole. So today when I saw the people from the weather forecast were right I just sighed.
It snowed again. It's beautiful to watch it while it happens, enjoy the fairy dance and feel like a child again, but man winter's gotta make up her mind. Too much time has already passed since she's been singing "Should I go or should I stay?" I really thought we said goodbye to each other already but, no, she's moody and she wants back. It's still her right to be here, so I have to keep quiet. But being patient is still tough. Let's see. Maybe if I play indifferent she'll go away.

[later on that day]
Brrrrr I'm cold! What's going on? ...  Oh no, not a flu again:(

Thank you, winter, for pimping my life. Not. I think we should break up. Asap. Don't ask me why. You already know.
With rage,
D.

Day 101. We're almost there

Christmas presents 2012

All gifts are bought and some are already wrapped up. Everything looks marvelous!:) I love being Santa for my loved ones and I can't wait to see their faces when they unpack:D
On the other hand, there are eight more days till Christmas. And I still got the flu. But this relaxing weekend got me on my feet again and I feel full of energy so I can't wait for the last 100 m run including the Christmas tree decorating and the cake baking:) Yum!

Day 99. Be careful what you wish for

winter and snow 2012

Weeks ago I wished for snow. I wanted it so badly because I wanted everything to be perfect (like I usually do. Bad Dana!). I wanted a true winter, not just a wannabe winter, so here I have it. There's snow everywhere and I am thankful for that but... it's SOOO cold. Of course that by a mysterious chance I got a flu (again). So I decided I should be more careful with what I wish for. In the end it's not the first time I get hit in the face by my own wishes coming true.

Day 49. Sleepover

Dinner at a sleepover

On Thursday night I went to my best friend's place for our anual sleepover:) We use to do that once a year when we have the house to ourselves in order to watch our favourite TV Shows and talk about everything till we can't keep our eyes open. But it was a long day until the evening came.
My flu said she didn't want to let me go so, by the time I was celebrating Coldrex scared her away, she made a big comeback with intense throat pain and a lot of coughing. So, I went to see the doctor like I said the previous day, and she gave me new pills. Long story short, the pills made me soooo sleepy I could barely stay awake for half of the day. Imagine the joy of going to see the kids and them being all energetic while all I wanted to do was sleeeep. The day went by weirdly with alternative moments of being ok and moments of intense need of a good sleep. At the end of the work day, all I really wanted was to be flu-less again!!!:(
So the evening came and maybe I should have stayed in bed, at home, but I couldn't have missed such an event so I went to see my best friend:) We had a lot of fun and we cooked and drank a lot of tea and milk and in the end the flu didn't matter so much anymore. I had my best friend with me and that helped a lot. That's why, even if we don't see our friends very often, it's always nice to know they are still there and willing to catch up with us and be around to make our life prettier:)
   I <3 my friends:)

Day 40. Bed sweet bed

Pillows in bed

Tuesday, second day of flu hell. Things just got serious. It was about time I started using a more serious pill because I really wanted to go back to work the other day (I know how silly that sounds).
It was all about bed, bed and some more bed for me on Tuesday. I wasn't used to having fever anymore. I didn't have a fever since childhood, but yet, it was never to late to meet her again. And I was happy. Because that meant my body was fighting:)
At the end of the day I was proud to have succeeded going to work and having had a beautiful class with some kids in my ex highschool.

TIP of the day: when there's a will, there's a way!

Day 39. And then there were pills

white and yellow pills

This Monday a serious flu turned me upside down and made me be the person I'm usually not: not in the mood for anything, not wanting to eat anything at all even if I was in the mall's foodcourt with all kinds of food around me, that kind of feeling when you just want a bed and hot tea, that moment when you're sick as a dog (however that might be). It was dreadful, but that was just the beginning...

Note to self: When you're that sick that you know you gotta take pills to be healthy again, take them properly, not just once in a while!
